$20.00

8.5 in x 11 in print of my Moonlight Fae painting

✶ Moonlight Fae, Hinnulei nocturnus, Fawn of the Night ✶

Observation 1 from a collection I’m calling - Creatures and Botanical Species Up Moss Creek - it’s a project documenting all the different species you might find if you ever attempted to follow Moss Creek all the way to its beginning.

The Moonlight Fae is a species of fairy that can be found 17 miles up moss creek. They are nocturnal, only being seen after sunset and before sunrise. They may be seen with their seasonal antlers made of lichen (Letharia vulpina) that they use to reproduce. In the spring their lichen will release spores that will travel through the night air until they land softly upon the leaves of starcap moss (Polytrichum jutellanum), where they will grow slowly each night under the soft glow of the starcap moss sporophytes. Until winter begins and they awake from their bed of moss, ready to enjoy the long nights of winter.

The print includes the numbered common and scientific name of each species featured in the painting in the traditional botanical illustration fashion.
